Split S maneuver is an aerobatic maneuver used in aviation to quickly reverse the direction of an aircraft, typically during combat or to avoid obstacles. In this maneuver, the aircraft is flown straight and level, and then the pilot pulls the aircraft into a half loop, which is followed by a 180-degree turn to return the aircraft to a level flight path. The name "Split S" is derived from the fact that the aircraft is split into two halves during the maneuver. It requires a great deal of skill and practice to execute a split S maneuver, and it is commonly used in air shows and aerobatics competitions. This maneuver is also used to disengage from an enemy aircraft in aerial combat.
